Blockchain Technology & Decentralized Dispute Resolution

March 24, 2022

The rise of blockchain technology has disrupted traditional models of governance, raising questions about legitimacy and trust. To better understand the practical and empirical conceptions of justice and dispute resolution within blockchain communities, a task force will be organized by interdisciplinary researchers. The organizers are part of several initiatives, including the Future Fellowship project on ‘Cooperation through Code’, the Coalition of Automated Legal Applications (COALA), and us, the EU-funded ‘Blockchain Gov’ project.

The task force will convene for bi-monthly discussions, focusing on decentralized dispute resolution. The group will identify and discuss relevant readings, with the first two already selected, and will eventually produce a collectively written report synthesizing insights from the discussions.

This task force provides an opportunity for scholars and practitioners to delve deeper into the practical implications of blockchain governance and explore the possibilities of decentralized dispute resolution. By bringing together diverse perspectives and experiences, the task force aims to shed light on this important area and contribute to the development of more equitable and effective blockchain governance models.
